Langston Golf Course Conservancy: Preserving History, Building Community
The Langston Golf Course Conservancy, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is dedicated to revitalizing the historic Langston Golf Course in Washington, D.C., while fostering cultural preservation, urban development, and community engagement. Founded in 2019 by a group of local citizens committed to preserving the legacy of African American golf, the Conservancy seeks to transform Langston into a world-class golf destination and a national model of cultural and ecological stewardship. The Conservancy raises funds to support four key initiatives:

1) Golf Course Revitalization – Enhancing course infrastructure, playability, and ecological sustainability through major projects like replanting native vegetation and upgrading irrigation systems.
2) Howard University Golf Program – Supporting the development of a dedicated NCAA Division I golf training facility to empower student-athletes.
3) Youth Golf Programs – Expanding access to golf instruction and mentoring for Washington, D.C., youth, focusing on life skills and collegiate opportunities.
4) Black Golf Heritage – Celebrating African American contributions to golf by funding educational signage, beautification projects, and creating a repository for historical artifacts.
The Conservancy hosts signature events, including an annual golf tournament, a holiday fundraiser, and a Masters-themed brunch, which bring the community together while advancing its mission. Through its strategic initiatives, the Conservancy ensures Langston Golf Course remains a vital part of Washington’s cultural and historical landscape, inspiring future generations of golfers and community leaders.
